Jonathan Birabaharan MPBAJonathan Birabaharan MPBA, a fifth-year PhD candidate in the Center for Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, was honored at this year’s National Neurotrauma Society Conference in Austin, with the prestigious 2023 Anthony Marmarou Award. Jonathan’s research abstract, titled “Elevated Plasma Morphine-3-Glucuronide Exposure Is Associated With Ipsilateral Hippocampal GFAP Immunoreactivity 24 Hours in Rats After Controlled Cortical Impact Injury,” presented valuable insights into the potential impact of morphine in the management of traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and secondary injury cascades.

During the conference, Jonathan showcased his findings through a data blitz and a poster presentation. Furthermore, Jonathan was also honored with a Travel Trainee Award. Representing the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research, Jonathan expresses his heartfelt gratitude to his mentors, Drs. Shaun Carlson and Philip Empey, and the esteemed staff at the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research, for their unwavering support and guidance throughout his journey.
