Jonathan Pelletier received his B.S. in microbiology from the University of Maine. He completed his M.D. with Research Honors at Tufts University, where he served as the chapter co-president of Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed pediatrics residency at Duke University Medical Center where he participated in the Pediatrics Research Scholars Program. His love for research began during the fall of his freshman year of undergraduate, and he worked as a research assistant in a toxicology laboratory throughout his time at UMaine. During medical school, he transitioned to clinical research, which he continued throughout pediatrics residency, publishing in a variety of disciplines including emergency medicine, nephrology, and cardiology. He was delighted to participate in the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and has actively pursued skills training in data science.

His planned work in the Department of Critical Care Medicine and the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research as a T32 fellow includes examination of variability in mechanical ventilation and sedation strategies for children with bronchiolitis, and their relationship to morbidity and mortality. His long-term goal is to develop EHR-integrated decision support tools that can offer bedside clinicians insight into patients’ probability of clinical deterioration and response to therapy.

When not working, he loves biking, hiking, frisbee, and spending time at the beach with his wife, Dani, and son, Liam.
