On October 13th, Linda Ryan, longstanding grants and contracts administrator at the Safar Center and in the Department of Critical Care Medicine (CCM) received the University of Pittsburgh Health Services Research Administration Outstanding Career Achievement Award.
The award recognizes individuals who have performed at the highest level for at least 20 years of service. Linda began her remarkable career of 38 years of service in the Department of Anesthesiology and CCM in 1987. She has served as the research administrator for the Safar Center since 1994, since its transition from the International Resuscitation Research Center. During her career, she has overseen the research portfolios of countless investigators who she has helped to navigate the often-challenging process of grant submission. Kim Basile, Sr. Director of Research Operations and Finance in the Department of CCM said “Linda runs a tight ship with her proposal deadlines, and the result is that the faculty can be well prepared to submit the strongest proposals to the sponsors. There is no grant application too small or too complex for her to handle with the highest degree of accuracy and professionalism.
Throughout the submissions, she is always willing to teach junior research administrators and faculty, which makes the whole team feel supported.” Linda’s vast experience, dedication, meticulous organization, knowledge of university regulations, mastery of deadlines, and tireless effort have been instrumental to the success of the Safar Center and the research portfolios of the pediatric CCM program at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and beyond!
Congratulations to Linda; she is richly deserving of this honor.
