Eleni H. Moschonas B.S., B.AEleni H. Moschonas B.S., B.A., a fourth year PhD candidate in the Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh and in the laboratories of Drs. Corina Bondi and Anthony Kline was awarded a Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) 2023 Dissertation Grant titled “Cholinergic Neurotransmission during Performance of a Sustained Attention Task after TBI.

In addition, Eleni was awarded a Research Advisory Committee (RAC) Graduate Student fellowship from UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with funding for two years to support completion of her dissertation. The proposed aims of her dissertation will determine a task-related and neuropharmacological mechanism by which the cholinergic system regulates attentional demands in an injured brain using in vivo sampling techniques in freely-moving rats performing a cognitive task.

Eleni is excited to continue her studies and is grateful to her mentors and Safar Center for Resuscitation Research faculty for their training, guidance, and support.
