Drs Carlson and Wu

Dr. Yijen Wu (Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Rangos Research Center Animal Imaging Core) and Dr. Shaun Carlson (Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery and Safar Center Associate Director) were awarded an Investigator-Initiated Research Award through the Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP) of the Department of Defense, titled “Mitochondrial Inflammation and Synaptic Systems Imaging of Neuroinjury (MISSION) for Mild Repetitive Traumatic Brain Injury.” Together, Drs. Wu and Carlson will lead the team to use MRI and PET imaging to non-invasively monitor and longitudinally track the impact of mitochondrial, neuroinflammatory and synaptic changes on outcomes in the months after injury. Congratulations to this outstanding collaborative team for receiving this new award!
