Safar Center Associate Director Dr. Hulya Bayir co-authored two important manuscripts in the October 2017 issue of the prestigious journal Cell.

Both manuscripts focused on the emerging cell death pathway of ferroptosis and included a report on original research identifying hydroperoxy-phosphatidylethanolamines as key effector molecules in the ferroptosis pathway along with a definitive multi-institutional review on the topic.

Congratulations to Dr. Bayir on these important scientific contributions that hopefully will lead to novel therapies for conditions central to resuscitation medicine such as acute brain injury and multiple organ failure.
