Dr. Hülya Bayır, Associate Director of Safar Center was awarded with the prestigious Society for Free Radical Research-Europe Clinical Award Lecture. This award is given after evaluation of candidates who are nominated based on their scientific achievements by an International Scientific Committee.
The award was presented at the joint Society for Free Radical Research-Europe/Oxygen Club of California Meeting held in Berlin, Germany, from 21st-23rd June, 2017. Dr. Bayır presented the key-note lecture titled “Signaling by oxidized lipids in acute brain injury”. Her presentation noted nonrandom nature of lipid oxidation after acute CNS insults such as traumatic brain injury and cardiac arrest and mechanistic therapies targeting selective lipid oxidation to improve outcome.
