Safar Center Scientist, Dr. Alicia Au, was recently awarded a Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (also known as a K23 Grant) from the National Institute of Health (NIH) for her new study, titled “Mixed Graphical Models for the Prediction of Neurological Morbidity in the PICU.”

Her research will focus on utilizing brain-specific serum biomarkers and clinical variables through mixed graphical modeling to detect unsuspected neurological complications and morbidity in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Au’s primary mentor is Dr. Robert Clark of the Department of Critical Care Medicine.
