The 45th Society of Critical Care Congress was held in Orlando, Florida on February 20th-24th. Several Safar Center trainees won prestigious awards at the event.
University of Pittsburgh Medical Student and Safar Center trainee Catherine Byrd received the In-Training Award for her abstract, “Polynitroxylated-Pegylated Hemoglobin as an Ultra-small Volume Resuscitation Therapy,” and Dr. Nahmah Kim-Campbell received the Young Investigator Award for her abstract “Renal Injury Associated with Free Hemoglobin in Rat Cardiopulmonary Bypass is Attenuated by Nitrate.”
The In-Training Award is presented to the trainee with the highest scoring abstract submitted to the congress. The Young Investigator Award is presented to a junior faculty member who is no more than two years beyond completion of training.
Out of the over 1000 abstracts presented at the congress, Safar Center trainees Drs. Emin Fidan, Elizabeth Meinert, and Jessica Wallisch received “Star Research Achievement Awards” and platform presentations for their abstract submissions.
