Caitlin McNamara, MDCaitlin McNamara, MD, current T32 fellow, received the award for best clinical research abstract at the annual 2024 Fink Day in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Critical Care Medicine.

Her presentation addressed her ongoing research on seizure prophylaxis in young pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI). In her study, which examined cases of pediatric TBI between 2011and 2021, she found that patients who received fosphenytoin had more seizures than those treated with levetiracetam. Her findings support the seizure prophylaxis switch to levetiracetam in pediatric TBI.

Congratulations to Cait who will be joining our PICU faculty in July.
