The Safar Center for Resuscitation Research was recently gifted an endowment made in memory of Mr. Lloyd Reback. This special endowment of over $300,000 will support new research initiatives on the topic of anoxic brain injury undertaken by Safar Center Investigators.

Dr. Patrick Kochanek stated “This support represents a tremendous opportunity for our research teams working to develop new therapies targeting asphyxia and other forms of anoxic brain injury. Anoxic brain injury in children is an important problem, and a key area of investigation by our clinician scientists. Also, given the importance that anoxic brain injury has taken on in the midst of the opioid epidemic, the timing of this support is remarkable.”

Some of the funds will be used to support seed projects on anoxic brain injury by our young investigators through a competitive process, and the endowment will be overseen by a committee of Safar Center Faculty. The Safar Center would like to thank the family of Mr. Reback for their exceptional generosity.
