Dr. Amy Maury earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from American University, where her doctoral training included research within a Phase III clinical trial evaluating the effects of a low glutamate dietary intervention on psychiatric symptoms, inflammatory biomarkers, and the gut microbiome in Gulf War Illness, a chronic multisymptom disorder. Her research integrates translational neuroscience and biomarker analyses to identify inflammatory mechanisms underlying patient-centered outcomes in complex neurological disorders. As a T32 postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pittsburgh under the mentorship of Dr. Amy K. Wagner, her research focuses on clinical biomarker studies within the Microglial Breakthroughs in Longevity, Aging, and Senescence after TBI (MicroBLAST) program and related projects. She is broadly interested in identifying biological pathways and biomarkers associated with neuropsychiatric symptoms, cognitive function, and quality of life following traumatic brain injury, with the goal of informing precision rehabilitation.
