Pitt alumni Charles Chabal III (MED ’82) and Sharon W. Chabal (NURS ’80) have pledged $1.5 million to establish an endowed fund supporting the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The gift will fund translational research, equipment, training, mentorship, and conference travel at the center, which conducts research across areas including traumatic brain injury, cardiac arrest, and combat casualty care. Charles has a personal connection to the center, having trained there under its founder, CPR pioneer Peter Safar, in the 1980s.
