Ihuoma Njoku (pictured second from the right), a graduating medical student working under the mentorship of Safar Center Associate Director Corina Bondi, was recently awarded the Bert and Sally O’Malley Award for outstanding medical students at the 2019 Pitt Medical School Scholars Day. Ihouma is one of only four recipients of this annual award. Her work which addressed studies of the use of galantamine to improve frontal lobe function after experimental TBI was also recently published in the journal Experimental Neurology.

Please join us in congratulating this bright young researcher on her accomplishments.
