Thomas Uray, MD, MPH, a Safar Center postdoctoral research fellow, has been awarded two new research grants from the Max Kade Foundation, Inc. and the Laerdal Foundation for Acute Medicine. Dr. Uray came to the Safar Center from the Medical University of Vienna in September of 2012. His work, which was supported by a Max Kade stipend and a Laerdal grant in the initial year, is based on the exploration of Nitrite in ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest, and is being conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Cameron Dezfulian and Dr. Patrick Kochanek. The grants will allow his work to extend into a second year. In addition to his research, Dr. Uray also pursued a Master of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, which he finished in August.
