Dr. Ericka Fink Awarded New PCORI Grant

A multidisciplinary team of clinician-scientists lead by Ericka Fink, MD, MS, Associate Professor of Critical Care Medicine and Safar Center Scientist, has been approved for a $1.87 million award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study “Early Rehabilitation Protocol (ERP) in the Pediatric ICU for Children with Acute Brain Injury (ABI).”Dr. Fink will serve as overall PI for project at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh along with her Lurie Children’s Hospital site PI Craig Smith, MD, and other stakeholders that include leaders in the field of pediatric brain injury, rehabilitation, psychiatry, outcomes and importantly families of children with ABI and members of the CHP Board of Trustees, CHP Foundation, and Pennsylvania’s BrainSteps Program. At the Pittsburgh site, the team includes Amy Howtrow, MD, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Sue Beers, PhD, Professor of Psychiatry, and Patrick Kochanek, MD, Safar Center Director at the University of Pittsburgh.
