SCRR Fellows Win 2 out of 6 Awards at the AHA 16th Annual Fellows Research Day in Pittsburgh

Safar Center fellows Karen Walson, MD, Manuela Lahoud-Rahme, MD and Mioara Manole, MD presented their abstracts at the 16th Annual AHA Fellows Research Day hosted by Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA on February 22, 2008.  Congratulations to Dr. Walson (pictured) who won top oral presentation for her abstract titled “Effects of Normoxic versus Hyperoxic Ventilatory Resuscitation on Oxidative Stress in Pediatric Asphyxial Cardiac Arrest."  Dr. Walson was mentored by safar Center Associate Director Dr. Hülya Bayır.  Congratulations also to Dr. Lahoud-Rahme who won second place for her poster presentation titled “Blood-brain barrier integrity in emergency preservation and resuscitation rat model.
