Guest Professor Donald Marion, MD visits the Safar Center
Donald Marion, MD visited the Safar Center on February 14, 2008. Dr. Marion is the Science Officer of the Children’s Neurobiological Solutions Foundation located in Santa Barbara, California. Dr. Marion gave a lecture titled “Therapeutic Hypothermia: Past, Present and Future,” to a standing-room-only audience of researchers, faculty, fellows and students. Earlier in the day, SCRR trainees presented their work to Dr. Marion in a reverse site visit fashion. Presenters included: Mioara Manole, MD–Cerebral Blood Flow after Cardiac Arrest; Karen Walson, MD–Normoxic versus Hyperoxic Resuscitation in Pediatric Asphyxial Cardiac Arrest: Effects of Oxidative Stress; Dave Shellington, MD–The Inflammatory Response to Combined Traumatic Brain Injury and Hemorrhagic Shock; Ann Hoffman-Haloperidol and Risperidone Exacerbate Functional Outcome after Experimental Traumatic Brain Injury; Jeff Cheng-Environmental Enrichment-mediated Improvement after Experimental Traumatic Brain Injury; and Ajit Sarnaik, MD–Genetic Influences on Outcome after Traumatic Brain Injury. Dr. Marion’s input was greatly appreciated by all of our trainees.
