Guest Professor William Armstead, PhD, Visits The Safar Center

William ArmsteadGuest Professor William Armstead, PhD, Associate Professor, Departments of Anesthesia and Pharmacology, University of Pennsylvania visited the Safar Center January 22-23, 2008. Dr. Armstead gave a lecture titled "Plasminogen Activators and the Neurovascular Unit After Piglet TBI and Cerebral Hypoxia/Ischemia" to an audience of researchers, faculty, fellows and students. The following day, SCRR trainees presented their work to Dr. Armstead in a reverse site visit fashion. Presenters included: Mioara Manole, MD—CBF in experimental asphyxia; Jennifer Exo, MD—Novel resuscitation from TBI plus hemorrhagic shock; Karen Walson, MD—Oxidative stress in experimental asphyxia; Craig Smith, MD—Sex-dependent increase in modified microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 after traumatic injury to the developing brain; Roseanne Salonia, MD—Endothelin in TBI; Shaun Darrah and Laura Mohler—Dilantin in TBI; and Brett Postal—Biomarkers in TBI.
