Guest Professor William Armstead, PhD, Visits The Safar Center
Guest Professor William Armstead, PhD, Associate Professor, Departments of Anesthesia and Pharmacology, University of Pennsylvania visited the Safar Center January 22-23, 2008. Dr. Armstead gave a lecture titled "Plasminogen Activators and the Neurovascular Unit After Piglet TBI and Cerebral Hypoxia/Ischemia" to an audience of researchers, faculty, fellows and students. The following day, SCRR trainees presented their work to Dr. Armstead in a reverse site visit fashion. Presenters included: Mioara Manole, MD—CBF in experimental asphyxia; Jennifer Exo, MD—Novel resuscitation from TBI plus hemorrhagic shock; Karen Walson, MD—Oxidative stress in experimental asphyxia; Craig Smith, MD—Sex-dependent increase in modified microtubule-associated protein light chain 3 after traumatic injury to the developing brain; Roseanne Salonia, MD—Endothelin in TBI; Shaun Darrah and Laura Mohler—Dilantin in TBI; and Brett Postal—Biomarkers in TBI.
